Экскурсии по еврейскому кварталу в Салониках

highly enough.

From the very beginning, Ilya made the experience effortless by meeting me directly at my hotel. The tour was thoughtfully planned, well-paced, and tailored perfectly to the city’s rich and complex history.

What truly sets Ilya apart is his extraordinary depth of knowledge and genuine passion for the subject. Thessaloniki was once known as the “Jerusalem of the Balkans,” home to one of the largest Sephardic Jewish communities in the world, and Ilya brought this remarkable history to life. He expertly connected the story of the Sephardic Jews who arrived after the expulsion from Spain in 1492, the flourishing Jewish community that shaped the city’s culture and economy for centuries, and the tragic destruction of that community during the Holocaust, when the vast majority of Thessaloniki’s Jews were deported to Auschwitz.

Ilya came exceptionally prepared, bringing historical photographs and images that allowed us to visualize buildings, neighborhoods, and communities that no longer exist. These materials added tremendous depth and emotion to the experience. His ability to weave together historical facts, personal stories, and broader historical context made the tour engaging, moving, and unforgettable.

If you are interested in Jewish history, Sephardic culture, World War II history, or simply want to understand Thessaloniki beyond the typical tourist experience, a tour with Ilya is an absolute must. His expertise, preparation, and enthusiasm make for an outstanding and memorable experience.
